Plot Summary

Longer Version
George Hackett's recurring dream of driving 500 miles each night makes him tired all day. An unconventional psychiatrist cures the problem by entering the dream himself to help with the driving. Against Dr Krull's advice, Hackett tries to use the same technique to help a friend who dreams that he makes love to three gorgeous women every night. The comic twist ending further blurs the division between dreams and reality.

Project Synopsis
Based on the eponymous short story by world-renowned author Lawrence Block, Cleveland In My Dreams tells the story of a man suffering from a recurring dream.

The story is a comedy but surrealistically entangles the boundaries between dream and reality. It was adapted for the screen by Olive L Sullivan, a published author and the director's sister.

The half-hour short film was produced by an all-volunteer cast and crew working nights and weekends under the direction of first-time filmmaker Mark K Sullivan. Sullivan produced, directed, edited, and scored the project.

Cleveland was shot in Mini-DV and edited on a personal computer but exhibits surprisingly high technical quality. The single-screen premiere sold out and was extremely well received by the crowd. The first festival to judge the film, The Route 66 Film Festival, awarded it 'Best Comedy Film'.

Opening Box Office
The World Premiere was screened in a 300 seat theater in Webb City, Missouri. Although many tickets were supplied to the cast and crew, the rest of the theater sold out and grossed $2,650. This may be pocket change in Hollywood, but it compares favorably to this little film's budget.
